10th Biennial International Business Institute for Community College Faculty a Success

Over 40 faculty from community colleges across the country attended the 10th Biennial International Business Institute for Community College Faculty this past June to learn develop new strategies for teaching international business and internationalizing their colleges more generally. This year’s participants hailed from 18 states, from New Hampshire to California and Oregon to Florida.

The Institute aims to bring faculty together to collaborate and exchange ideas to improve international education at community colleges nationwide.
In addition attending a variety of sessions ranging from an International Trade update to small working sessions on developing an international business major, participants were also able to network extensively and expand upon one another’s ideas to internationalize community colleges in order to meet the demands of this increasingly globalized world.

Cosponsors for the 10th Biennial International Business Institute for Community College Faculty are Centers for International Business Education and Research at Brigham Young, Colorado at Denver, Florida International, George Washington, Georgia State, Memphis, Miami, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Temple, Texas, Texas A & M, and Washington, and Center for Advanced Studies and International Development (CASID) and Center for Gender in Global Context (GenCen) at MSU, MSU University Outreach and Engagement, Lansing Community College, NASBITE International, and National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE).

Global Business Club of Mid-Michigan: Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) Training

This 2-day training (8am-5pm August 14-15) is sponsored by the MEDC for its export partners and is open by invitation only. It is aligned with the national NASBITE CGBP trade professional exam and will support efforts of participants to sit for the national exam. This training covers the Primary Content Areas of the exam:Global Management, Global Marketing, International Supply Chain Mgmt, Trade Finance, Best resources & data sources
